Janedra Sykes | Arboreta Group, LLC | www.arboretagroup.com

Partner, Leadership and Organizational Development Lead

Janedra believes that people, organizations and communities, after some sincere self-reflection, know what is best for them and the direction in which they want to go. Janedra focuses on helping organizations clarify and achieve their vision. She has a streak of curiosity that is a mile long and she wants to understand what motivates people and how they work, then find the tools and strategies that fit their specific needs that will take them to the next level. Often, that comes in the form of strategic plans, business development projects, program design, editing their grant applications or just helping the leadership stay on track with coaching. When she is not working, Janedra is reading two to three books at the same time (very slowly) to explore whatever interesting thing that crosses her path. She is a mother of an adult son who is a fabulous person, dedicated pet-parent (two massively loving Rottweilers), inconsistent yogi and lover of a good meal with friends. If you want to know more about her skills and experience, email her at janedra@arboretagroup.com or connect with her on LinkedIn. Janedra has a Master of Arts in Nonprofit Leadership and Management from University of San Diego and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of California, Los Angeles. She provides trainings on Racial Equity, Inclusion and Diversity, and Cultural Humility to organizations large and small.

Tinesia Conwright | DETOUR Empowers FANCY Teen Girls | www.detourempowers.org

Devoted community leader within the nonprofit and for-profit industries, Tinesia Conwright is a Nonprofit Executive, Career Development Specialist, and Board Certified Life Coach.

She was born and raised in Southeastern San Diego during the 1980s and 90s at the peak of gang violence within a neighborhood facing large pockets of poverty and few opportunities for educational advancement and socio-economic mobility. Despite the challenging environment, she found an outlet to express her love for dance through a youth group and realized the capacity within youth to influence social change and uplift their peers and community. There, she discovered her self-worth and met people within her community who inspired her to become the person she is today. Tinesia earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration from San Diego State University and her Master’s Degree in Nonprofit Management & Leadership from the University of San Diego.

Passionate about nurturing the growth of girls and developing them into our future leaders of tomorrow, Tinesia launched, DETOUR (Depositing Empowerment Through Outreach & Urban Redevelopment). The organization provides the FANCY (Focused And Naturally Confident Youth) Teen Girls Expo, Leadership Academy, and Scholarship youth development programs which have empowered over 1,000 girls since 2009 (www.Detourempowers.org).

Tinesia is a current Fellow in the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, based out of Battle Creek Michigan, and graduated from the RISE San Diego Leadership Program in 2019. She also serves on the San Diego Police Department Chief’s LGBT Advisory Board.
